To unlock a document, open it in AOPR. You can also drop a file onto the main window. For supported file types, the password will be displayed instantly.
For WordPerfect 5.x files, the password is recovered instantly if it doesn't contain non-US characters. If it does, the password cannot be recovered. Instead, you can instantly decrypt the protected file.
For WordPerfect 6.x..13 files, two protection modes are supported: original and enhanced. The recovery is two-stage. During the first stage, the tool locates the required keys. During the second stage, the tool attempts to recover the original password, which may take several seconds or even minutes depending on the character set. The following character sets are supported (as defined by WordPerefect): ASCII, Multinational, Cyrillic, Greek and Hebrew (AOPR tries them consequently). If the password cannot be found, you can decrypt the file instead. While the recovery is guaranteed, the key search may take several minutes or even hours. If you interrupt the attack, you will be able to resume it from the last automatically saved state.
For enhanced encryption mode (versions 6.x through X5/15), AOPR can decrypt passwords of any length, containing any characters from the character sets mentioned above, and in any combination. The recovery is near instant for most passwords. However, if the password is very long and contains symbols from different character sets, the recovery process may take up to several minutes.
In most cases, AWOPR will produce an 8-character 'collision' password that will be different from the user-selectable password originally set in the Paradox document. This password, even if different from the original, will successfully unlock the database.
The recovery is instant. In some rare cases, the attack may take several seconds.
QuattroPro passwords are recovered instantly regardless of the QuattroPro version. If the recovered password contains non-printable characters, you may be unable to enter it in QuattroPro.
To get information associated with a WordPerfect Lightning account (Domain, User name and Password), press Open file and select WordPerfect Lightning from the menu. Then, browse for *.ini file located in the user profile at:
%Documents and Settings%\<user name>\Application Data\Corel\WordPerfect Lightning\
Please note that the password can only be recovered if it was saved (the Remember my password option in WordPerfect Lightning was selected), and only when you are logged into the system under the same Windows user account the WordPerfect Lightning account was accessed from.
